Nebethet represents earthly consciousness, nature and the underworld. She condenses matter which unites the soul/spirit with the physical realm of time and space.

She is the counterpart to both Asar (macrocosmic soul) and Aset (cosmic consciousness) with whom she is interconnected in all aspects of mortality. She is the mother of Anpu who is the dawn when darkness turns into light. Nebethet is referred to as the "night" in ancient Kemetic texts - while Aset is called the "day".
